This is a beautifully carved Cotswold School oak frame having leaves and acorn decoration. This piece must date to around 1920 and the carving is really top drawer. Both the subject and the geometric inner band lead to the attribution possibly being a Hampshire School maker, such as Arthur Romney Green. But the piece is unmarked so we cannot attribute it to any particular maker. The frame measures 34cm x 30cm - the glass oval / visible image 15cm x 12.5cm. It is a very useful piece in good condition.
